KATHMANDU: Regular flights from and to the Gautam Buddha International Airport (GBIA) will be run by Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC). With effect from April, the NAC will have two weekly flight slots from this airport.
The national flag-carrier is permitted to operate flights from the GBIA on Tuesday and Thursday of each week, according to Jagannath Niraula, a spokesperson for the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN). Niraula announced that NAC is preparing to operate flights along the Kathmandu-Kuala Lumpur-Bhairahawa-Kathmandu route.
According to NAC Spokesperson Archana Khadka, the company has already begun planning the flight from Bhairahawa. The NAC has not yet set the flight’s fare.
A few months ago, CAAN cut the Kathmandu-Delhi flight slot, claiming there was no flight from Bhairahawa. A disagreement between CAAN and NAC developed as a result of cutting that slot. The flight from Kathmandu to Delhi, Bhairahawa, and then back to Kathmandu was then proposed by the NAC.
