KATHMANDU: The ‘black box’ of the Yeti Airlines plane that crashed in Pokhara on Sunday has been found. Spokesperson for the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, Jagannath Niraula informed Republica that the “black box” was found this morning.
The black box is considered crucial in finding the cause of the plane crash. The black box contains ‘Flight Radar Record’ and ‘Cockpit View Record’.
According to Spokesperson Niraula, the black box has been handed over to the Nepali Army. The authority says that the black box will be brought to Kathmandu today and submitted to the Incident Investigation Commission.
Postmortem will take some time
The post-mortem of the bodies of the people who died in the Yeti Airlines plane crash on Sunday has not yet started.
According to the General Manager of Tribhuvan International Airport, Premnath Thakur, the bodies of the crew members, foreign nationals and Kathmandu residents will be brought to Kathmandu. According to him, a three-member expert team is going to Pokhara from the teaching hospital Maharajgunj for the postmortem of the bodies.
It has been informed that among those identified, the bodies of people from Pokhara and surrounding areas will be handed over to their relatives, and the postmortem will be done here, and the postmortem of the bodies taken to Kathmandu will be conducted in Kathmandu.
Assistant Chief District Officer of Kaski, Anikumar Shahi, said that correspondence has been completed with the relevant agencies in accordance with the arrangements for the formation of a team for the post-mortem of the bodies.
Stating that other internal preparations have been made for the post-mortem, he informed that the postmortems will take some more time.
