KATHMANDU: As the newly constructed Gautam Buddha International Airport in Bhairahawa didn’t get business, the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) decided to divert all the international charter flights to Bhairahawa.
CAAN has said that only diplomatic cargo flights and Nepal Army flights are allowed to operate from the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu.
CAAN has also put pressure on the international airlines to operate one flight from Bhairahawa after operating two flights from TIA, however, due to the lack of necessary infrastructure and business, the international flight operators are denying to fly to and from Bhairahawa.
Only Al Zajira Airlines is operating scheduled international flights from Bhairahawa three times a week.
