PM tells private sector to invest in infrastructure

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has urged the private sector to invest in infrastructure.

Addressing the Sustainable Infrastructure Investment Forum organized by the Investment Board on Wednesday, Prime Minister Deuba said that private sector and foreign investment in infrastructure is essential.

“Private sector investment is important to develop infrastructure in the country and foreign investment is also necessary, so everyone is urged to invest. He said that huge investment is possible in Nepal in public-private partnership model.

Deuba said $19 billion would be needed to meet the Sustainable Development Goal and it needed the support of the private sector and foreign investors.

Prime Minister Deuba said that by the year 2026, the nation will be upgraded into a developing nation by the development of infrastructure and economic progress. The government is working by prioritizing infrastructure development as per the 15th Five Year Plan, he said, adding that there is a policy to reduce carbon emissions to zero by 2045.
