Cabinet removed the ban on foreign nationals from going to third countries through Nepal

KATHMANDU: The government has removed the ban on foreign nationals from going to third countries through Nepal.

It was banned from coming to Nepal and using this airport as a transit to other destinations for the purpose of departing from Tribhuvan International Airport from April 26, 2021. However, there was no restriction for transiting inside the airport.

With the cancellation of the government’s previous decision (April 26, 2021) by the cabinet meeting held on Monday, now any foreign citizen will be able to land in Nepal and go to any third destination from here.

The government had to take such a decision last year when Indian citizens came to Nepal and went to Saudi Arabia during the Covid-19 pandemic. Tourism businessmen were demanding to cancel this decision.

According to government spokesperson and minister of communication and information technology, Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, the cabinet meeting on Monday decided to remove such ban.
