KATHMANDU: The the state-owned fuel utility, Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC), has made some proposals on ways to reduce consumption of petroleum products.
Accordingly, it has proposed a quota system in fuel to be provided to two-wheelers and four-wheelers. The Corporation, which has been bearing huge losses in the sales of petroleum products, proposed that the two-wheelers be provided only up to 5 litres and 20 litres for four-wheelers at a time.
NOC also proposed that the vehicles ply on the road on the basis of odd and even number plate except for those relating to essential services and public services.
The NOC has also hiked the price of petrol by Rs. 2 and that of diesel and kerosene by Rs. 9 per liter effective from this midnight.
The price of aviation fuel has also been increased by Rs. 5 per liter. According to the new price list, petrol will cost Rs. 181, diesel and kerosene will cost Rs. 172 a liter.
