KATHMANDU: Senior Captain Deepu Jwarchan has been appointed as the General Manager of Nepal Airlines Corporation. Jwarchan has taken over the responsibility of the executive head of the corporation, which was vacant after the suspension of executive chairman Yuvaraj Adhikari.
Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Prem Ale has appointed Jwarchan as the general manager.
The government has removed the managing director of the corporation, Dim Prasad Poudel, while the executive chairman has been suspended after an investigation committee was formed against Adhikari.
Jwarchan, who has been in charge of the trainer pilot for the last 13 years, has been in the managerial responsibility of the corporation for about 14 years. Jwarchan was at the forefront of transporting essential health supplies during the Covid-19 pandemic.
All the employees of the corporation have expressed their satisfaction that the government has given executive responsibility to the senior pilot of the corporation who was not involved in political and economic disputes. Jwarchan will soon move ahead with his plan to reform the corporation.
