KATHMANDU: Airline Operators Association of Nepal (AOAN) has announced the closure of air services across the country from tomorrow (Wednesday).
Airline operators has taken this decision against the government’s decision that 55 aircrafts and helicopters of various airline companies should be parked at the designated base airport outside Kathmandu at night.
“We would like to inform you that the regular rescue and emergency flights provided by all the helicopters and airline companies affiliated to AOAN have been suspended from June 22,” the association said in a statement.
Earlier, the government has laid the groundwork for parking at airports outside Kathmandu as the pressure of aircrafts is increasing at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu.
According to TIA spokesperson Teknath Sitaula, TIA has the capacity to accommodate 17 domestic aircrafts. However, 34 aircrafts are being parked at TIA at present.
