KATHMANDU: The government has decided to award the construction works of the West Seti hydropower project in the far west to the Indian state-owned company NHPC. A cabinet meeting held on Monday decided to award the 750 MW West Seti project to an Indian company.
The government has also formed a dialogue committee headed by Vice Chairman of the National Planning Commission Bishwanath Poudel to hold talks with NHPC. A committee led by Poudel will negotiate with NNPC to decide on the construction of the project and modalities of investment.
The government has decided not only West Seti but also the 450 MW Seti River 6 (SR6) project to the company. NNPCC is a government company in India. The company has already generated 7,530 MW of electricity in India. NHPC is also India’s largest power generating company.
