KATHMANDU: President Bidhya Devi Bhandari today presented policies and programmes of the government for the next fiscal year (2022-23).
Bhandari presented policies and programmes of the government at the joint parliamentary meeting of both Houses, with top priority to agriculture and economic growth.
President Bhandari informed that agriculture will be made the base for economic growth and development. For the same, she informed that the government will formulate new Agriculture Policy and address issues to ensure growth of agriculture industry, production and export.
Similarly, Bhandari informed that the government will review the Agriculture Modernization Project and make it more result-oriented.
The government also announced to bring out a separate unified law to regulate and facilitate development and construction activities.
The government has also announced to get the work of projects of national pride and strategic importance from the state and local governments from the next fiscal year. Currently, most of the projects are under the control of the central government.
Similarly, the government has announced its plan to launch a special campaign in the coming fiscal year to address the internal and external pressures on the country’s economy. The government will use different financial and monetary instruments to reduce the pressure on the economy, informed Bhandari. The government has expressed its plan to improve public procurement law and maintain financial discipline.
Policies and programmes of the government includes setting necessary criteria to facilitate revenue mobilization at the local level and mobilizing foreign assistance in the transformation plan.
The government has set target to construct additional 800 kilometers of road within the next fiscal year.
