KATHMANDU: The government has collected royalty dues from casinos worth Rs 764.50 million following measures to take action against those delaying clear their dues.
As per the Department of Tourism (DoT), 17 casinos have paid the aforementioned amount to the authorities. The government is yet to recover Rs 1.11 billion in royalty from six casinos.
The DoT officials said the casinos came forward to clear their dues only after the government scrapped the operating license of Yak & Yeti Hotel Limited on a similar charge. The government authority also revoked the five-star classification of the hotel for the non-payment of the royalty fee worth Rs 420 million to the state.
