KATHMANDU: Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Prem Bahadur Ale has said that a calibration flight will take place at Gautam Buddha International soon. “The ongoing weather is not good. As soon as the weather improves, we will operate a calibration flight at the airport,”said Ale.
Though the government had planned to operate calibration flights at the airport from January beginning, it could not due to poor weather, informed Ale.
Director-General of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, Raj Kumar Chhetri, said a technical team from Thailand’s Aerothai was preparing to perform a calibration flight at the Airport. “The calibration flight will be carried out by the technical team of Aerothai. If they say there is no problem, our technical team is ready to do the test flight,” says Chhetri.
The calibration flight is held to test alignment, lights, equipment and test flight is carried out once everything is reported to be functional as required.
Minister Ale also added the flight services would start soon at the Gautam Buddha International Airport. On the occasion, he instructed the concerned authorities to complete the installation of new equipment and complete physical infrastructure under-construction at the airport as soon as possible.
He also inspected the runway, control tower, passenger arrival and departure lounge of the airport.
