KATHMANDU: The appointment process of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) has reached in the final stage.
In the first phase, 5 applicant have been selected. The recommendation committee informed that among the 11 applicant, 5 were selected on the basis of seven different evaluation parameters.
Krishna Bahadur Karki, Keshav Prasad Shrestha, Pravin Pandak, Ramesh Ghimire and Ramesh Kumar Bhandari are among the selected candidate. The date of presentation of the working paper for the selected candidates is next Sunday, a source said.
According to sources in the Finance Management Division of the Ministry of Finance, Ramesh Kumar Bhandari, Prabin Pandak, Keshav Prasad Shrestha, Badri Pyakurel, Niranjan Phuyal, Krishna Bahadur Karki, Deepak Gautam, Gobind Dulal, Chhaviraj Pant, Ramesh Ghimire and Jeevan Amagai are among those who have applied for the post of CEO.
A recommendation committee was formed under the coordination of joint secretary of Finance Ministry Ramesh KC for the appointment of the CEO. In the committee, Ritesh Shakya, Joint Secretary of Finance Ministry and Jibnath Dhital, former Chairman of Nepse are the members. The committee will recommend the names of the three applicants to the Cabinet. The cabinet will appoint one of them as CEO for the next four years.
The then CEO, Chandra Singh Saud, had resigned from the post after being accused of buying the shares of the Sarbottam Cement in the process of issuing primary shares through book-building method through internal trading.
The government had opened the application to fill the vacant post after his resignation. Market operator Nepse and capital market regulatory body Nepal Securities Board have been without a head since last August. The selected applicants are lobbying to become head of Nepse.
