KATHMANDU: The Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) is set to make a separate arrangement for monitoring the complaints of telecommunication service providers charging more than the stipulated charges in telecommunication services.
The NTA is preparing to purchase monitoring service to investigate if service providers are charging customers above the rate that is approved from NTA. For the same, NTA, on Tuesday, sought applications from interested organizations.
Through such services, one can get accurate information about the billing system of telecommunication service providers and the charges they are taking for various services, informed NTA director Bijay Roy. “This will help in controlling extra charge that service providers might be taking from customers,” he said.
As per the Telecommunications Act-2053, service providers have to get the service fee approved by the NTA. Of late, customers have been complaining that service providers are charging more than the approved fee for voice, data, SMS, VAS and other services.
