KATHMANDU: The government has dismissed Bhishma Dhungana, chairman of the Securities Board of Nepal (Sebon).
The Cabinet meeting held on Tuesday dismissed Dhungana, who was dragged into controversy over the purchase of shares of Sarbottam Cement.
Earlier, the government had formed a committee to investigate the matter and suspended Dhungana. He was alleged to have acted against his post by sharing confidential information and abusing power and had asked the committee to submit report within 15 days.
The committee had found Dhungana guilty in the report. Dhungana was found to have bought more than 10,000 shares of Sarbottam Cement in the name of his daughter.
Meanwhile, Dhangana has also filed a case in the Supreme Court against charges to him.
