KATHMANDU: The Department of Transport Management (DoTM) has proposed to open advance ticket booking for public transport from next week (September 25).
Following preliminary discussion with the transport entrepreneurs, the department has proposed to open advance ticket booking of buses from the upcoming week itself.
Namaraj Ghimire, director general at DoTM informed that transport entrepreneurs have been requested to make arrangements to issue advance tickets for the passengers leaving the Valley accordingly.
Almost 2.5 million people leave the Valley during Dashain at normal times. However, outflow of people from Kathmandu Valley during Dashain last year was affected due to spread of the Covid-19 pandemic. As Covid-19 infection rate is low at present, the number of people going home for Dashain this year is expected to be higher than last year.
