KATHMANDU: The Nepal Telecommunication Authority (NTA) has canceled the process to procure country’s own satellite, the authority said in a statement today.
As per NTA, the satellite project has been canceled after companies who were selected to keep the satellite did not respond to the request.
Meanwhile, NTA also said that new process has been started soon as per the Public Procurement Act 2063.
Nine international companies had submitted their letters of intent in developing the satellite. NTA had selected five companies and had sought financial proposals from them. However, NTA said that these firms did not respond to NTA’s call on time. .
NTA has called for a new proposal to regulate the installation of satellites and set policy on security, trade and operation modalities.
