KATHMANDU: The new arrangement of capital gains tax on share purchase and sale has been implemented from today.
As per the provision made in the budget of the current fiscal year, two types of investors will now be charged different capital gains tax under which short-term investors will be taxed at 7.5 percent and long-term investors at 5 percent.
The budget for 2021-22 has considered short-term investors as those investors who sell shares in less than a year and long-term investors as those who sell shares for more than one year.
Prior to this, all investors were charged five percent capital gains tax.
