KATHMANDU: Despite constitutional provision to introduce their annual budget for next fiscal year by June 24, 71 local governments have failed to bring their budget on time.
As per National Association of Rural Municipalities (NARM) and Municipal Association of Nepal, 30 municipalities and 41 rural municipalities have not introduced their annual budget for next year yet.
Hom Narayan Shrestha, chairman of the NARM, said that the ongoing calamity of flood and landslide across the country have delayed budget across different local bodies. “Along with this, the COvid-19 pandemic has also affected the budget process,” he said.
