KATHMANDU: A consignment of 32,500 metric tonnes of urea procured from Bangladesh has arrived in the country.
The fertilizer was purchased through the Government-to-Government agreement between the two countries. The fertilizer has been received by Birgunj-based provincial office of the Agriculture Inputs Company Limited, according to the national news agency RSS.
As per the G2G agreement, the Government of Bangladesh was supposed to supply 50,000 metric tonnes urea to Nepal.
The remaining 17,500 metric tonnes of fertilizer is in the process of transportation, RSS reported citing Manager of the company’s provincial office, Gorakh Nath KC. The remaining consignment will be brought to the dry port at Sirsiya of Birgunj via train from the Kolkata Port in India.
