KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index lost 11.68 points today and closed at 2,771.15. The index opened at 2,790.33 and immediately made the intraday high at 2,799.94.
However, this was the most that the bulls could push the index today. Bearish sentiment immediately dominated and took the index as low as 2,751.26. Nonetheless, it ultimately closed at 2,771.15. 19,783,354 shares traded hands via 98,607 transactions. The trading of 216 scrips brought the total market turnover to over Rs 8.59 billion.
This is a significant contraction in turnover given that Nepal’s capital market had created the highest intraday turnover recorded in the history of Nepse of Rs 17.028 billion the day before yesterday.
