Private sector pleasantly surprised with the budget: Shekhar Golchha

KATHMANDU: Private sector has said that they are pleasantly surprised with the kind of the budget that the government has brought for 2021-22 fiscal year.

Speaking at the post-budget discussions organized by Society of Economic Journalist Nepal (Sejon) today, Shekhar Golchha, president of Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) said, “Given the present circumstance, the kind of budget that the government has brought has surprised the private sector pleasently as the budget has accommodated majority of concerns/suggestions of the private sector.”

As per Golchha, decisions regarding continuation of different relief packages including refinancing facility have encouraged the private sector. However, Golchha said that the government should introduce some stimulus package to uplift and recover the economy in case the prohibitory order continues to be extend further.

“On top of that, the budget is positive and private sector friendly,” added Golchha.

Meanwhile, Satish Kumar More, president of Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) and Rajendra Malla, president of Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC), said that though the budget is positive the government should focus on effective implementation of the budget by adopting some fast-track methods.

On the occasion, Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel assured that the government will fully and effectively implement the budget, provisions introduced in it and work together with the private sector to fight the pandemic and revive businesses and the economy.
