KATHMANDU: The second wave of COVID-19 has halted construction of over 6,000 infrastructure projects across the country.
Federation of Contractors’ Association of Nepal (FCAN) stated that projects of all kinds and their construction has been affected due to the spread of second wave of the pandemic and different measures adopted by the government to contain it.
All sorts of projects related to tourism, drinking water, irrigation and other development projects have been affected, as per FCAN.
As majority of projects have Indian workers and Bangladesh, travel restrictions has also affected project works. “Travel restrictions which had resulted to unavailability of skilled workers, disruption in supply of construction materials and increasing cases of Covid-19 among project staffs have been affecting the project development,” as per FCAN.
