KATHMANDU: Nepal Telecom (NT) is set to launch ‘Voice over Long Term Evolution’ (VoLTE) service test for its users from Monday.
Dilli Adhikari, managing director of NT, informed that the company is currently testing the services based on 4G/LTE network. NT has already completed VoLTE testing compatible mobile sets before testing the service among NT service users.
“Now the service will be tested at the user level and all 4G service users can use this service,” said Adhikari. Currently, only internet can be used in the 4G network provided by NT.
When a customer using a 4G service makes a call, it automatically turns into a 3G network. Due to this, even after the launch of 4G service, customers have not been able to find any difference in voice.
But now, NT’s customers will be able to make voice calls using the 4G network. NT claims that the quality of voice call will be HD level while making calls using the 4G network. Apart from this, phone calls will be established immediately while making calls using the 4G network.
VoLTE features enables clear and natural sound. Similarly, VoLTE voice quality is six times better than 2G and three times better than 3G.
