Prime Minister Oli pledges to raise minimum wage to Rs 15,000

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has announced that the minimum wage of workers would be increased to Rs 15,000 from the existing Rs 13,450 from July 16.

On the occasion of the 132nd International Workers’ Day, Oli extended best wishes to all Nepali working-class people around the globe said that minimum wage would be increased from the beginning of the new fiscal year. Similarly, PM Oli also urged all to maintain social/physical distance and wear mask as precautionary measures against the virus and work together to fight against the coronavirus and its spread in the country.

“Job security and creation of additional job opportunities will be the priority of the government,’’ said Oli adding that Nepali trade union movement had brought the people’s hardship and sufferings to the limelight.
