KATHMANDU: The National Natural Resources and Fiscal Commission (NNRFC) has recommended to the federal government to provide RS 152.51 billion conditional grants to the provincial and local governments in the upcoming fiscal year 2021-22.
Such recommendation has been made at a time when the government, especially the Ministry of Finance is preparing the budget for the next fiscal year.
The NNRFC has recommended providing Rs 57.95 billion to seven provinces and Rs 94.55 billion to 753 local governments as conditional grant through the upcoming budget. This will ensure that each local government will get at least Rs 65 million as a fiscal equalization grant.
Every year, the government is providing such grant on the basis of human development index, economic and social inequality, status of infrastructure development, among other parameters.
