KATHMANDU: Nepalese traders can now import up to 20 kilograms gold in a day.
Issuing a circular on Thursday, Nepal Rastra Bank, the Central Bank of Nepal, has maintained the daily import quota of gold at 20 kg by amending the gold import and trade working procedure.
Federation of Nepali Gold and Silver Entrepreneurs President Manikarna Shakya stated that no advance order could be taken for the marriage ceremony beginning on 25 April. Chairman Shakya stated that regardless of the demand of 35 to 40 kg of gold per day for April, solely 10 kg of gold is imported.
“As the government has raised import quota to 20 kg a day, this will provide some respite to traders,” said Shakya.
