KATHMANDU: The government has decided to waive the electricity demand charges of the lockdown period for the hotel and restaurant affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
A recent cabinet meeting took the decision to this effect, informed Minister for Communications and Information Technology Parbat Gurung, who is also the government’s spokesperson.
“The demand charge of electricity to be paid by the hotel industry will be waived from March 22, 2020 to mid-September, 2020. Similarly, the demand fee from September to mid-February will be reduced by 50 percent,” informed Gurung.
Hoteliers said that the decision will provide some relief to the hospitality industry rattled by the pandemic.
