KATHMANDU: The government has lifted a ban on import of the luxury vehicles.
Publishing a notice in the Nepal Gazette on Monday, the government revoked its previous decision.
The government had restricted import of the vehicles worth more than Rs 5 million since a nationwide lockdown was enforced on March 24 last year to contain the spread of the coronavirus.
Along with import of luxury vehicles, the government had restricted the import of gold, dry fruits like dates, clove, small cardamom, peas and alcoholic beverages last year.
The ban was intended to prevent possible pressure on country’s foreign exchange reserve following the lockdown.
The government has already lifted import restriction on alcoholic beverages, peppercorn, peas and dates.
