KATHMANDU: Operators of public transport have sought immediate hike in the transportation fare following continuous rise in price of petroleum products.
On Thursday, representatives Federation of Nepalese National Transport Entrepreneurs (FNNTE) submitted a memorandum to Physical Infrastructure and Transport Minister Basanta Kumar Nembang with the demand on Thursday.
Moreover, transport entrepreneurs even threatened to launch a strike if decision to raise transportation fare is not taken immediately.
Along with rise in fuel price, they have been claiming that the costs of lubricants and various accessories and spare parts of the vehicles have increased significantly in recent years which has made operation of public transportation costlier.
