CAN Info-Tech 2021 scheduled for May 12-16

KATHMANDU: The 27th CAN Info-Tech 2021 will be organised from May 12-16 at the Bhrikutimandap Exhibition Centre in the capital.

The largest Information and Communication Technology (ICT) fair is delayed by about three-months due to the COVID-19 pandemic, said Narayan Thapa, General Secretary of CAN Federation, at the press meet organised in the capital on Sunday.

“It gives us and ICT entrepreneurs a great relief to reach the consumers and traders at a single platform after more than 16 months since we organised the fair for the last time,” he said.

The event is sponsored by Prabhu Pay, and Worldlink Communication is associate sponsor, Sunway College is academic partner and Ultra LED is digital display partner.

According to the organiser, the exhibition will be participated by national and international ICT companies and distributors, and will feature branding, ICT accessories, game parlour, product launching, robotics, emerging technology, e-waste management, wi-fi and internet learning centre and ICT employment centre.

Likewise, there will be artificial intelligence, IT college, bank and insurance and government sector programmes and tutorials.

CAN Federation has opened platinum, diamond, gold, silver, print and official partners of the Info-Tech.

This edition of the CAN Info-Tech will run special sessions to tell the visitors using the smartphone smartly. Tickets can be bought from online.

On the occasion ‘Interaction on use of ICT in media’ was also organised where ICT experts had talked about the recent development in the ICT sector, and its implications in the media.

Senior journalist Prateek Pradhan had delivered a keynote address and said that fake news and raw information carried out by the media had created confusion among the masses and deteriorated the credibility of the media.

Nawaraj Kunwar, President of CAN Federation, said that media were the one of the first users of the ICT and its products. Purushottam Khanal, Chairman of the Nepal Telecommunication Authority, said that the NTA does not have the right for content regulation.
