KATHMANDU: The Public Accounts Committee of the House of Representatives is set to study the alleged irregularities in the phase two contract process under the Kathmandu-Terai Fast Track.
The committee has shown interest in the construction of the fast track after a complaint was lodged with the committee alleging irregularities in the second phase of the contract process.
The committee has sought response from the concerned body on 11 different issues on the basis of the claims and documents submitted as evidence in the complaint alleging irregularities in the selection of competent bidders under the second phase of the contract process.
Committee’s secretary Rojnath Pandey said that documents have been sought from the concerned body for preliminary investigation and that preparations have been made to include it in the agenda of the next meeting of the committee.
“A few days ago, a complaint was lodged in the committee alleging that the Nepal Army had selected prequalified for fast track contact and that the breeding process was wrong, unfair, rigged and did not go through the tender process in a lawful manner,” he said. “We have now begun a preliminary investigation. If there is any irregularity in the coming days and the process for bidding is not completed, we will take this process forward with the help of the concerned officials and the concerned staff and the Public Procurement Monitoring Office.
