KATHMANDU: The High Commission of the Republic of Zambia in India has appointed Nepali businessman Desh Bandhu Basnet as Zambia’s Honorary Consul in Nepal.
The appointment was announced by Her Excellency Judith K.K. Kan’goma Kapijimpanga, the Ambassador of Zambia to India in a sparkling ceremony held in Embassy with the consular jurisdiction over Kathmandu Valley (Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and Bhaktapur) to handle the Consular and Economics issues on behalf of the Republic of Zambia.
Her Excellency handover the letter of commission, national flag, and the seal of the office to Mr. Basnet.
Congratulating the newly-appointed Honorary Consul, Zambian Ambassador to India Her Excellency Mrs. Judith K.K. Kan’goma Kapijimpanga expressed her confidence that with her prestige and experience, Basnet will help protect the legitimate rights and interests of the State and people of Zambia living in those areas and guide them in abiding by local laws.
The appointment aims to promote and strengthening bilateral relations between Nepal and Zambia as well as in trade, investment, tourism, culture, and tourism, contributing to the development of the two countries’ strategic partnership.
Business leader Er. Desh Bandhu Basnet is an engineer by education and an entrepreneur by profession who took over the charge of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) as Executive Committee Member and Chairperson of Bi-National NRN Coordinator (FNCCI) Mr. Basnet has been associated with various national and international associations and served for regional integration and economic cooperation. He is an Executive Committee Member of SAARC Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SAARC CCI) and Advisor for International Investment Promotion Committee (FNCCI), Province 1 (FNCCI), and Trade Fair Committee (FNCCI) respectively.
