KATHMANDU: The construction of the Nagdhunga-Sisne Khola Tunnel, which started three sections on December 23, has achieved nine percent physical progress so far.
Though the project witness difficulties in the initial days, works are being carried in full swing today, informed Naresh Man Shakya, director of the Project. “We are digging 5-6 meters of tunnel every day and if we are able to give continuty to this pace, the project will be completed on time,” said Shakya.
The project is currently working in two shifts- day and night. The tunnel is being dug using drill and blast technology.
The project is being funded by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Of Rs 20 billion project cost of the project, JICA has agreed to provide 16 billion rupees while the government of Nepal will manage the remaining resources.
