KATHMANDU: The government is seeking additional funds from donor agencies to execute the second phase of the Melamchi Drinking Water Project.
Earlier this week, first phase of the much hyped project was completed and water will be supplied across Kathmandu soon.
As per the project, fund for the second phase of the project is being sought from Asian Development Bank (ADB) and ADB is seen positive on funding the project again. The estimated cost of the second phase is over Rs 30 billion (around USD 3 million).
As per the plan, water from the Yangri and Larke rivers of Sindhupalchok districts will be added to Melamchi in the second phase of the project.
The first phase will supply 170 million litre water to the capital city a day.
