KATHMANDU: The study of laying petroleum pipeline from Amalekhgunj in Bara to Lothar in Chitwan has been completed and its technical report has been submitted to the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies.
Spokesperson of the Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC), Binit Mani Upadhyaya, informed that the study team have submitted a report to the Ministry on how to move the pipeline forward project after estimating its cost and the project development period.
The 69-kilometer-long pipeline from Amalekhgunj in Bara to Chitwan is estimated to cost around Rs 13 billion. It is said that a state-of-the-art petrol tank with a capacity of 100,000 kiloliters will be constructed in Lothar to store the petroleum products.
The existing petroleum pipeline from Motihari to Amalekhgunj will be extended to Lothar by connecting pipes. For this, necessary discussions have already been held between the governments of Nepal and India. Now the technical report will be discussed in the Ministry.
Once the report is approved by the government, the project development work will start.
