Investors towards telecom’s share despite company’s falling profit

KATHMANDU: Though share price of a company fluctuates based on its financial statement generally. Principally, when a company’s profit falls its share price come down while its share price goes up if the company records good profit.

However, this is not the case with government-owned Nepal Telecom (NT). The company’s share price has gone up by more than 100 percent in the last six months though the company’s profit has come down by 33 percent in the first six months of the current fiscal year.

It is said that NT’s share price is increasing especially following rumors that the telecom company is soon preparing to issue bonus share.

The share price of NT, which was at Rs 665 per share six months ago, has crossed Rs 1,450 today.
