Movement of passengers in int’l flights up by 32pc

KATHMANDU: In the first month of 2021, the number of passengers movement in international flights have increased by 32 per cent.

Nepal Airlines Corporation, which had earlier taken the lead in providing high passenger services in December 2020, has also secured the first position in January.

Of the 21 international airlines that obtained flight permits from the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal in January, the corporation has served the highest number of passengers. After the corporation, Qatar Airways and Himalaya Airlines are the airlines that serve the most passengers.

It is mentioned in the statement prepared by the CAAN that the NAC has served 23,459 passengers through 178 flights in January. Similarly, Qatar Airways has served 16,947 passengers through 144 flights. The Himalaya Airlines has served 14,591 passengers through 163 flights.

CAAN spokesperson Raj Kumar Chhetri said that the number of passengers taking international flights has been increasing recently. It has been found that the number of people coming to Nepal has been gradually increasing recently due to the health safety standards being followed for the control of Covid-19.

According to CAAN, a total of 326,222 passengers have taken flight service through domestic and international flights in January alone. Compared to 2019, the number of air passenger traffic in Nepal has decreased by 72 percent in 2020.
