KATHMANDU: The government is preparing to issue a directive on social networking site in a bid to curb the anomalies spread from social networking sites- Facebook and YouTube and online media.

At a press meet organized here to make public the government decisions on Tuesday, Minister for Communications and Information Technology and Spokesperson Parbat Gurung signaled that government would take action against those using provocative speech.

He made it clear that the activities online that create anarchy would be brought under legal ambit.

Minister Gurung also warned everyone not to be irresponsible and cast aspersion on country’s dignitaries, supreme institutions in the name of freedom. Gurung also argued that the directive would help control such inciting views flared lately in social networking sites and online media.

Spokesperson Gurung condemned such activities online terming them attack on democratic system established with long political struggle. They would stoke violence and confrontations, he argued. Election on time During the press conference, Minister Gurung reiterated that election would be held on time because the government has already made arrangement for it.
