KATHMANDU: The government has started preparations to build chemical fertilizer factory in the country.
A meeting was held at the Ministry of Finance with Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel, Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Lekhraj Bhatt, Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development Padmakumari Aryal, and secretaries to discuss preparations for setting up a chemical fertilizer factory in Nepal.
The meeting discussed the technology and possible cost of setting up a chemical fertilizer factory, including the technology and methods that are in use across the world. The ministers have discussed natural gas, water electrolysis, and hybrid to determine the technology suitable for Nepal.
Finance Minister Poudel said that he would prepare a proposal on the technology, investment method, and cost of setting up a chemical fertilizer factory in Nepal after further discussions.
A meeting of the Council of Ministers held in October formed a committee under the coordination of the Finance Minister to conduct a preliminary study on the establishment of a chemical fertilizer factory in Nepal.
