Manufacturing industries get electricity demand fee waiver for lockdown period

KATHMANDU: The government has decided to exempt electricity demand charge for production/manufacturing-based industries for the lockdown period.

A meeting chaired by Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel at the Ministry of Finance, on Sunday, decided to implement electricity demand fee waiver effective from today.

Bishnu Poudel, Minister for Finance, opined that implementation of the decision would benefit industries affected by the COVID-19, help them revive and subsequently give momentum to the economic growth.

As per the Ministry, such exemption will be provided to 58 types of industries mentioned in the Industrial Business Rules, 2020.

The budget of the fiscal year 2020-21 had announced giving electricity demand fee waiver for the lockdown period to manufacturing industries affected by the COVID-19.
