KATHMANDU: A large number of Nepalis are seen being attracted towards the share market in recent days.
According to the statistics, based on the total population of 30 million, more than eight percent of the population has entered the share market.
Although the number of people trading in the secondary market has not increased significantly, the number of people opening Demat accounts is increasing day by day.
Nepal Infrastructure Development Bank has so far issued a large IPO worth Rs 8 billion on Friday. As this is the largest IPO ever, most people are hoping to get shares. According to CDSC, 72,011 people have opened Demat accounts in a single year.
Till last year, around 2.4 million people had opened Demat accounts while the number of Demat account openers has increased to 2.5 million so far. According to CDSC, more than 10,000 people are opening Demat accounts daily in recent days.
It has been said that the number of Demat account openers has also increased due to the IPO issued by the Nepal Infrastructure Development Bank. The number of Demat openers has also increased as it is said to be for everyone.
