KATHMANDU: As the Melamchi Drinking Water Project is nearing completion, the Kathmandu Upatyaka Khanepali Limited (KUKL) has prepared water distribution plan in the Kathmandu Valley.
KUKL has informed that a plan has been prepared on how to reduce water leakages and distribute water across the Valley once water supply from the Melamchi Drinking Water Project starts.
Chief Executive Officer of the KUKL, Milan Shakya, said that they have already identified the challenges that will arise in supplying water across the Valley and that the KUKL is preparing to address the challenge effectively.
According to him, the Ministry and the Melamchi Water Supply Development Board have also agreed on the schedule prepared by KUKL for distribution of drinking water in Kathmandu Valley.
As pipes used to supply water in the Valley are years old which pose risk of leakages, Shakya informed that KUKL is repairing pipe leakages across the Valley.
