KATHMANDU: Nepal has made record export of yarn in the first five months of the current fiscal year.
Following its high demand in countries like India, Turkey and Vietnam, Nepali traders have exported yarn worth Rs 1.23 billion in the first five months of the current fiscal year. As per statistics, around 7.3 million kg of polyester yarn have been exported to India during the period.
Similarly, Nepal has exported yarn worth Rs 2906 million to Turkey, while 23,000 kilogram of yarn has been exported to Vietnam, a new market for Nepali yarn. Leading yarn industries including Reliance, Tribeni and Jagadamba Mills have been exporting yarn to Vietnam.
Nepal’s yarn factories, which were not closed even during the COVID-19 pandemic, is now trying to find new international markets. Pawan Golyan, a yarn industrialist, informed that a sample of Nepali yarn has been sent to Japan and Nepali yarn is likely to enter Japan in the recent future.
