KATHMANDU: Price of chicken has surged in the domestic market. Though chicken price was low during the lockdown when production was high while the demand was low, its price has started surging gradually after the market started to reopen.
“As businesses (hotels, restaurants) are gradually reopening, the production of chicken during winter is often low. Increasing demand amid limited production has raised price of chicken,” as Tikaram Pokharel, president of Nepal Hatchery Industries Association.
The price of chicken was Rs 200 to 240 per kg a few months ago while its price has reached Rs 370 to Rs 400 per kg in recent days.
