KATHMANDU: Police today arrested Lumbini Sugar Mill operator Manoj Agrawal from Parsa.
At the request of the Metropolitan Crime Branch, Baneshwor, the District Police Office, Parsa arrested him, informed DIG Dhiraj Pratap Singh, police chief of the Province.
It has not been decided whether to send Agrawal to Kathmandu or start legal proceedings from Nawalparasi.
According to the records provided by the police, Lumbini Mill was yet to pay Rs 90 million to the sugarcane farmers. Out of that, Rs. 13.6 million has been deposited by the mill.
According to Agrawal, Rs 20 million has been blocked in the account in the name of his brother-in-law Sunita Goyal due to a family dispute. Preparations are being made to blow it up.
The main operators of four of the mills have not been arrested so far on the charge of cheating farmers.
