KATHMANDU: Nepal Telecom and Nepal Army have reached an agreement for laying optical fiber on Kathmandu-Terai Madhes Expressway (Fast Track).
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed between the project and the telco to lay optical fiber on the 72-kilometer-long expressway, a short route connecting Kathmandu with the Terai.
The agreement has been signed by Dilliram Adhikari, Managing Director of Nepal Telecom, and Brigadier General Bikas Pokharel, Chief Technical Assistant of the Expressway Road Project. It is mentioned in the agreement that the necessary structure will be constructed including the contract related to the optical fiber during the construction of the expressway.
Connecting optical fiber technology, which can transfer large amounts of data at high speeds, involves digging the ground, laying pipes, and laying cables. The financial cost of this work will be borne by Nepal Telecom.
The company has stated that the technical supervision of the optical fiber laying work will be continued on behalf of the company.
