KATHMANDU: Sugarmills have deposited all together Rs 350 million so far in sugarcane farmers’ accounts.
According to Urmila KC, information officer at the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies, three industries have so far paid the amount. Shri Ram Sugar Mill has so far paid Rs. 260 million. Meanwhile, Annapurna and Indira Sugar Mills have paid all together Rs 50 million so far.
According to the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Annapurna, Indira, Shri Ram, and Lumbini sugar mills have to pay a total of Rs 630 million so far. Out of this, about 350 million have been paid so far. However, Lumbini sugar mills have not started paying farmers.
The Annapurna sugar mill has to pay Rs. 170 million while Indira Sugar Mill has to pay Rs 47 million. As both of them belong to the same owner, out of the total Rs 217 million, Rs 50 million has been paid so far, according to the ministry. The owner of both mills is paying Rs 10 million per day.
Shri Ram Sugar Mill had a due payment of Rs 330 million, of which the mill paid Rs 260 million so far. Similarly, Lumbini Sugar Mill has not paid Rs 84 million
