KATHMANDU: A team of Agriculture Input Company Ltd is going to Bangladesh to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the purchase of chemical fertilizers through the government to government process.
The AICL team is going to Bangladesh to take forward the process and sign a memorandum of understanding to procure 50,000 tonnes of urea fertilizer from Bangladesh. The team is leaving for Bangladesh on Tuesday.
A team comprising Managing Director Netra Bhandari, Joint Secretary of the Ministry Kanchan Raj Pandey, Manager of the AICL Bishnu Prasad Pokhrel, and Agriculture Communication Officer Arun GC will leave for Bangladesh on behalf of the company.
Prior to this, Nepal had tried to borrow fertilizer from Bangladesh.
Even Though the Bangladesh government had agreed on Nepal’s proposal earlier, later on citing their legal issues, the Bangladesh government requested the Nepal government to purchase fertilizer instead of borrowing. Nepal had already completed all the preparations to borrow fertilizer however, last-minute changes delayed fertilizer import.
