Chandra Dhakal elected senior vice-president of FNCCI, Golchha to lead for three years

KATHMANDU: Industrialist Chandra Prasad Dhakal, chairman of IME Group, has been elected as the senior-vice president of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI).

Dhakal made it to the post defeating his rival industrialist Kishor Pradhan during the voting held on Saturday.  to elect a new Senior Vice President of the umbrella organizations of businesses across the country.

The win also paved way for Dhakal to become the 20th President of the FNCCI after three years. As FNCCI statute has a provision whereby senior vice-president will directly become the organization’s president in next tenure, Shekhar Golchha will lead FNCCI for next three years while Dhakal will lead FNCCI automatically after that.

Dhakal secured 522 votes in the associate category against Pradhan’s 375 and 59 in the commodity category against Pradhan’s 39. Pradhan, however, was ahead of Dhakal in the district-municipality category (53 vs 52).

Among three vice-presidents, Dhakal-led panel’s Ram Chandra Sanghai won in the associate category whereas Pradhan panel’s Anjan Shrestha and Dinesh Shrestha won in commodity and district-municipality categories respectively.
